The public was advised on Tuesday to take precautionary measures as the weather bureau warned of heavy to intense rains brought by thunderstorms in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
The thunderstorm that is affecting Metro Manila (Camanava, Marikina, Quezon City), Bulacan (Meycauyan, Marilao, Obando, San Jose del Monte), Rizal (Cainta, Rodriguez, Taytay, Antipolo) and Zambales (San Felipe, San Narciso) may persist within two hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 12:40 p.m. forecast.
Pagasa said thunderstorm has been affecting areas in Laguna, Quezon, Batangas, Cavite, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija and other parts of Metro Manila, Rizal and Zambales. The weather disturbance may be in effect within the next one to two hours.
Pagasa also warned the public against strong winds, lightning and possible flashfloods.
A ridge of high pressure area is also affecting the eastern section of Northern and Central Luzon.
Cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorm will be experienced over Bicol region, Western Visayas and the provinces of Mindoro, Aurora and Polilio Island, Pagasa said in its weather bulletin.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening. Frances Mangosing/JPV
