Oriental Mindoro remains to be a “yellow” county.
The province’s Governor Alfonso Umali, Jr. attended the 72nd anniversary celebration of the Liberal Party in Quezon City last January 19.
Umali, in a Facebook post, reaffirmed his ties with the erstwhile ruling party, saying that they will defend the democracy and the rule of law.
“Bilang matapat at masigasig na kasapi ng Partido Liberal, iisa ang ating sigaw sa ika-72 na anibersaryo: #LiberalKami at ipagpapatuloy natin ang laban para sa demokrasya, hustisya, at pag-asa sa ating bayan,” Umali said.
The LP celebrated its 72nd anniversary last Friday led by the party president Senator Francis Pangilinan.
Separate celebrations were likewise held in Quezon, Cebu, at Naga.
Former President Benigno Aquino, Vice President Leni Robredo and other LP senators, congressmen and allies were also present during the celebration in Quezon City.
The LP, as it thrives to be relevant in times of the Duterte administration, said that they will bring the issues closer to the people to give them a voice.
