Calapan City Mayor Arnan C. Panaligan has recently turned over agriculture equipment to farmers associations as part of the City’s Farm Mechanization Program.
Panaligan, under the AKAP or Angat Kabuhayan sa Agrikultura Program, l turned over 2 units of combined harvester and 1 unit of four wheel tractor to the Calapan Federation of Farmers Associations (CALFFA), 1 unit of four wheel tractor to Gabay sa KaunlaranAgriculture Cooperative, 1 unit of rice transplanter and 1 unit of automatic seeder to Calapan Family Farm Cooperative (CALFFAMCO).
He also distributed 5 units of hand tractors to the Farmers Associations of Bgys. Parang, Gulod, Patas, Buhuan and Nag-iba.
The mayor also gave P300,000 to CALFFA as seed capital for their Organic Agriculture Trading Project.
The activity was held at the City Agriculture Demo Center in Bgy. Biga which was attended by Agriculturist Lorelein Sevilla and the staff of the City Agricultural Services Department.
Councilor Felix Flores was also present to represent the Sangguniang Panlungsod in the said activity.
“Farm mechanization will boost agricultural productivity and help increase rural income,” the City said.
